New Year's Resolutions to Get in Shape

Did you know the number one New Year's resolution that people make is to get back in shape or lose weight? It is also the number one New Year's resolution broken. The process usually goes like this:

New Years resolution number one: I want to get back into shape. I have not worked out in a long time. I am going to start working out 1 hour every day. The last time I did this was 20 years ago, but I am ready to get started. Two weeks later, I can barely get out of bed in the morning because I am in so much pain. My heels are killing me. I hobble to the bathroom in the morning. Thank goodness the dresser is close so I can hang on.New Years Celebration

Then the excuses come: I guess I must be too old to work out.  There must have been a reason that I became such a couch potato. I give up and return to the couch with busted dreams of ever becoming healthy again.
