When you come in for an appointment, the doctors will take a plaster mold of your foot in its neutral position. This is the position of your foot before you stand on it. This allows the doctor to see and measure your foot before it settles into a bad biomechanical position by being placed on the floor. Then they use the mold to fashion the prescription insert.
