Show Your Feet Some Love with DIY Soaks and Scrubs

Valentine’s Day is a time to express your love, so why not let your feet know how much you appreciate them? After all, they’re always there whenever you need them and help you do, well, pretty much everything. Give them a little TLC with these DIY foot soaks and foot scrubs to smooth dry skin and soothe tired, achy feet.

Start off your pampering project with a fabulous foot bath. Fill a basin two-thirds full of warm water, making sure it’s not so hot that it counteracts your attempts to moisturize. Add a cup of Epsom salt and stir until dissolved. Then, add a tablespoon of baking soda, which not only aids in moisturizing, but also has the bonus effect of fighting foot odor! Woo-hoo! Finally, add an essential oil of your choice – soothing lavender, energizing peppermint, whatever best suits your needs and mood. Plop your feet in and relax for about 20 minutes.

Scrub and Smooth

Got some rough, dry patches on your feet? You can make an easy exfoliating foot scrub with ingredients you likely already have on hand! Mix a tablespoon of brown or white sugar, or coarse salt, with a tablespoon each of baking soda and olive oil. Add a few drops of your favorite essential oil, then gently rub the mixture over feet, rinse, towel off and say bye-bye to dry!

No matter which way you decide to show your feet some love -- and even if you soak and scrub both – always be sure to thoroughly dry feet when you’re done, and don’t forget between your toes. You don’t want to invite any fungus to your party! (There’s nothing to love about that.)
